YEREVAN. – Cocoa prices have dropped dramatically in the global market for long period of time, but this did not affect in Armenia where chocolate importers are not going to reduce tariffs, Zhoghovurd newspaper writes.

In 2013-2015, when the cocoa prices went up because of deficit in the global market and reached $3,500 per ton, inflation also started in Armenia. The companies importing chocolate have explained their move by high price of raw materials.

Zhoghovurd newspaper found out that today, 1 ton of cocoa costs $ 2,076. Director of one of the local producing companies Emil Harutyunyan said: “It does not depend on cocoa low or high prices only. There are many other factors that also affect the chocolate price: price of sugar, milk powder and milk has a great impact.”
