YEREVAN. – The government of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan may soon  petition to the parliament, with a proposal to declare amnesty in Armenia, according to Zhamanak (Time) newspaper.

“The amnesty may be devoted to the Independence [Day anniversary on September 21] holiday of Armenia.

“Last time when amnesty was declared in Armenia was in 2013. But despite all the expectations of the prisoners and their relatives that [then] President Serzh Sargsyan would declare amnesty also in connection with the [Armenian] Genocide centennial in 2015, there was no amnesty [in that year],” wrote Zhamanak.
