YEREVAN. – Former Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia (RA) Hovik Abrahamyan, during his tenure as Minister of Territorial Administration in 2007, had acquired—through his driver—plots in Dilijan town, Zhoghovurd (People) newspaper reported.

“[And] during his tenure as the NA [National Assembly] President, Abrahamyan became—through the head of his bodyguards—the actual proprietor of 4 separate (...) plots.

“The RA Special Investigation Service has previously reported that during the preliminary investigation into the case of former Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, incidents were revealed of selling—by the Dilijan community leader and members of auction committees—15 plots [in Dilijan] to Hovik Abrahamyan’s relatives and his close ones (…), by way of producing false documents.

“According to the SIS [Special Investigation Service] statement, since the statutory time limits for criminal prosecution have expired in some of the abovementioned cases, and the law on amnesty was applicable in some cases, the SIS investigator has decided not to prosecute them.

“Zhoghovurd daily has learned from Dilijan community head Armen Santrosyan that these plots have not been returned to the Dilijan community yet,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
