YEREVAN. – During the recent assembly of the ambassadors of the Republic of Armenia (RA), Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reprimanded the ambassadors—off the record—that, “You are doing nothing for our economy. You are neither bringing investments nor developing trade turnover and economic ties with the ambassador-hosting countries. Why are we keeping you, spending that much money?” Hraparak (Square) newspaper reported.

“Indeterminate complaints were made. But to the impression of those present, the prime minister’s anger was directed mostly at RA Ambassador to the US, Varuzhan Nersesyan. And the reason is not so much the absence of investments, but that he is not succeeding in organizing a meeting [of Pashinyan] with the US top leadership—in particular, with the US President, or Secretary of State.

“We were told that in response, the elder ambassadors had spoken, diplomatically flattering the prime minister, after which his anger had eased,” Hraparak wrote.
