YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: Chairman of the Urban Development Committee Vahagn Vermishyan, who had denied our information a few days ago that a criminal case is being investigated related to him, was detained yesterday.

The NSS [National Security Service] later issued a statement stating that he had taken a large and particularly large bribe through a "close person" on five occasions. And later in the evening we learned that the former rector of the National University of Architecture and Construction, Gagik Galstyan, who is also the chairman of the Builders' Union, was also detained.

We learned that Galstyan's indictment is linked to the title of Honored Builder, in exchange for which Vermishyan, as per the indictment, took a $5,000 bribe from him.
