YEREVAN. – A decadent mood is established, within the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), after Samvel Nikoyan’s and Eduard Sharmazanov’s elections as National Assembly (NA) Speaker and Deputy Speaker respectively, 168 Zham daily writes, referring to its sources.

“It is apparent that RPA [Parliamentary] Faction leader Galust Sahakyan also wanted to become NA Speaker. They say, at NA, that he had stated among close circles that if he did not become NA Speaker, he could leave RPA. And previous NA Speaker Hovik Abrahamyan was attempting to propel him to become NA Speaker. Incidentally, they say that Abrahamyan, too, is in a fairly bad mood, as he was unable to designate not only his replacement, but even the RPA Faction leader. In this case, Abrahamyan and Sahakyan tried to nominate MP Hovhannes Sahakyan, but, according to some information, President Serzh Sargsyan did not accept him. They are already speaking, at NA, that the majority of those MPs, who are under Abrahamyan’s influence, also will not be in the next Parliament,” 168 Zham writes.
