YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily has learned that President Serzh Sargsyan always had the intention of declaring a war against Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Chairman, oligarch Gagik Tsarukyan, the daily reported.

“After the 2008 presidential election, his [i.e., Sargsyan’s] close circles warned him about the ‘possible’ consequences, and advised [him] to ‘draw a line between the PAP and its leader’ so there would not be more complicated situations in the future. But Serzh Sargsyan took the matter to the ethical framework [saying] that, ‘they [, the PAP,] supported me [in the election]; it would not be right.’

“In the spring of 2012, he contemplated in a narrow ‘circle,’ what should he do, should he draw the line [and] get it over with? [But] they did not advise [him to do this]; two months were left to the NA [i.e., National Assembly] elections.

‘“The [recent] answer [by Sargsyan] was so ‘voluminous’ because his patience had run out; he decided that emptying [the ‘cup of patience’] immediately is the most correct [thing to do]. Let’s wait what will happen,’ said our RPA [i.e, the ruling Republican Party of Armenia] source,” Hraparak wrote.

As reported earlier, speaking at Thursday’s meeting of the board of RPA, President Serzh Sargsyan, who is also chairman of the RPA Board, had stated that PAP Chairman, MP and oligarch Gagik Tsarukyan the political player had become a vice for the country. He also relieved the PAP leader from his status as a National Security Council member, and promised that a process will begin in connection with Tsarukyan’s frequent absence from the NA sessions.

In response to President Sargsyan’s remarks, Gagik Tsarukyan on Friday stated that the incumbent authorities must be removed from power immediately. Reflecting on Sargsyan having him removed from the NSC, the PAP leader noted that he had not formally left this council earlier solely because of the President’s personal human request. As for the plans to strip him of his parliamentary mandate, Tsarukyan said the important thing for him is the trust of the Armenian citizens, and therefore he possesses the most important mandate. In addition, the Prosperous Armenia Party chairman urged to achieve Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation by way of lawful political methods.
