YEREVAN. – Even though former FM and Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) National Assembly Faction member Vartan Oskanian has solely quit the party for now, he might renounce his parliamentary mandate, too, Hraparak daily reported.

“According to our information, he was determined from the very beginning. He stated that he will give up the [parliamentary] mandate and close the PAP page in his life. [But] subsequently, prior to the [party special] congress [on Thursday], many people tried to convince him not to do that.

“Oskanian claimed to be disappointed by the PAP and spending 2.5 years of his life on this political force. Nonetheless, the negotiations yielded results and so far he has announced solely about leaving the PAP, and he even wished success to the newly elected chairperson [of the party].

“Among his close circles, however, he stated that has not yet given up the idea of renouncing the [parliamentary] mandate, [and that] he has just temporarily suspended this matter,” Hraparak wrote.
