YEREVAN. – A new organization is being formed among Armenia’s state circles, and which shall operate within the framework of business advocacy, reported Hraparak daily.

“We have learned that the EBRD [i.e. the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development] has lain down before the [Armenian] government a condition to set up, by autumn, a business ombudsman’s institute, which will work independently from the Office of the HRD [i.e., Human Rights Defender’s], and aim to protect large and small businesses [of Armenia] from pressures of the state chain.

“There are several candidates for business ombudsman. Behind the scenes, the authorities are discussing the matter of selecting a young professional from the legal sector [for this position], whereas there is a theory that known businessman Khachatur Sukiasyan may engage in [this] business advocacy,” wrote Hraparak.
