YEREVAN. – The US President’s initiative will be a breath of fresh air, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) former Foreign Minister Arman Melikyan told 168 Zham daily, reflecting on the Sargsyan-Aliyev meeting expected in Washington D.C., the daily reported.

“In one of the articles published in Washington Times, it is noted that US President Barack Obama has a unique opportunity to establish peace between Yerevan and Baku, within the framework of the 4th Nuclear Security Summit to be held in Washington, on March 31.

‘“Coming up with such an initiative will be expedient in case if Washington came to the conclusion that the [Karabakh] negotiation process should be subjected to major substantive revisions. If US President Barack Obama assumes the initiative to organize a joint trilateral meeting with Messrs. [Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev and [Armenian President Serzh] Sargsyan and puts new ideas into circulation, this can be a breath of fresh air to the peaceful settlement process of the [Karabakh] conflict,’ Melikyan said,” 168 Zham wrote.
