YEREVAN. – All mediators of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Minsk Group work around a single objective: to maintain ceasefire at the line of contact and immediately resume negotiations between the conflicting parties.

Ambassador James Warlick, US Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, told the aforesaid to Zhamanak newspaper of Armenia.

Warlick stressed that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has no military solution, and that the mediators are working towards extending the measures that will enable to reduce the risks of clashes at the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact.

The Minsk Group US co-chair said the current instability along the line of contact and the Armenia-Azerbaijan border clearly shows why it is indispensable for the parties to immediately start comprehensive settlement talks.

To Zhamanak’s query as to why, ultimately, a Sargsyan-Aliyev meeting did not take place in Washington, DC, Ambassador Warlick responded that US President Barack Obama had not had a plan of holding a meeting between the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan, from the very beginning.
