YEREVAN. – The session of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) Intergovernmental Council was convened Friday in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan, and the PMs of the EAEU member countries (Armenia Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan) attended the event, reported 168 Zham newspaper.

“This was the session that was to take place on April 8 in Yerevan, but it took place in Moscow because, at the request of Azerbaijan’s ally Kazakhstan and the tacit consent of Armenia’s strategic ally Russia, the EAEU leaders declined from traveling to Yerevan [due to the four-day war in early April], as a sign of solidarity with Azerbaijan [despite the fact that this country had unleashed the large-scale hostilities against Nagorno-Karabakh].

“This was the EAEU’s another gift to Azerbaijan, which Russia wishes to make a member of this organization at any cost, including, as Russians admit, [at the cost] of Nagorno-Karabakh.

“The four-day war in April showed that the EAEU is actually an inimical organization for Armenia, not only because the majority of the member countries in this organization are the strategic partner of Azerbaijan, but because our strategic partner [i.e. Russia] in this organization does not put a distinction in the means for making Azerbaijan become a member in the EAEU.

“The war in April [also] showed that, in the dealings on drawing Azerbaijan into the  EAEU, Nagorno-Karabakh is a bargaining chip for Russia, and Russia also sells heavy weaponry to that country [i.e. Azerbaijan] to bomb it [i.e. Nagorno-Karabakh],” 168 Zham wrote, in particular.
