YEREVAN. – Deputy Minister of Health Samvel Margaryan is the only senior official in Armenia not to use an office car, and he bikes to work, reported Aravot newspaper.

“He told us in an interview that he lives 1 km away [from work], [and] he can also come [to work] on foot.

“To our question, ‘Don’t you have an office car?’ he responded: ‘Maybe it is written somewhere on paper that I do have. But I haven’t seen that car, and to be honest, I don’t event wish to see [it] in the near future. I have my own car; [but] I use it quite rarely (…). I’m 34 years old; I travel by bike for about 20 years.’

“When we asked, ‘But what will you do if they send you on a business trip to a province?’ the deputy minister considered 2 options: ‘Nothing will happen if I were to go with my own car. Besides, there is public transport, after all,”’ wrote Aravot.
