YEREVAN. – Even though Wednesday is the seventh day of the nominations for the Yerevan Council elections, the Central Electoral Commission of Armenia has not yet received any respective applications, according to Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper.

“Yesterday, we tried to find out from the [ruling] Republican Party [of Armenia (RPA)] as to whether current mayor Taron Margaryan will really again head their [Yerevan] Council list; that is, [whether] he will be the [RPA] candidate for mayor again.

“Head of the RPA organizing committee, Ruben Tadevosyan, responded that he [Margaryan] will be their candidate for mayor this time as well, but they will make this decision at tomorrow’s meeting of the [RPA] executive body,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
