YEREVAN. – The former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) has decided not to convene a party congress this year, Zhoghovurd (People) newspaper reported.

“According to our information, RPA Chairman [and third President] Serzh Sargsyan has become passive in party matters in recent times, and—also due to the summer mode—he more rarely visits the party head office (…), or meets with fellow party members.

“However, according to our information, the Republican Party of Armenia will engage in more active activities in the near future.

“Also, the political wing of the party had regular meetings during the summer, planned their future courses of action—but without Serzh Sargsyan,” Zhoghovurd wrote.
