YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan plans to organize a snap parliamentary election in November or December because he realizes that the rating of his and of the movement he leads will drop considerably in spring. The winter difficulties will significantly reduce the army of supporters of the country’s new authorities, according to Zhamanak (Time) newspaper.

“Pashinyan realizes that he will not succeed in implementing constitutional amendments; this parliament will not vote for those amendments.

“[So] his resignation has remained the only possible option to dissolve the parliament. And so that the [former ruling Republican Party of Armenia] RPA majority [faction in parliament] will be unable to conspiratorially nominate and pass another candidate for prime minister, Pashinyan intends to organize round-the-clock rallies and block the parliament building, not allowing parliament to convene a session for at least two weeks.

“Had the [upcoming] La Francophonie summit [in capital city Yerevan] not prevented, Nikol Pashinyan would have implemented this plan as of today,” wrote Zhamanak.
