YEREVAN. – The authorities of Armenia are preparing the structural changes to the future government, Hraparak (Square) newspaper reported.

“According to our sources in the government, they have decided to reduce the number of ministries, (…), [and] to downsize the departments whose functions are repeated, or are very similar to one another.

“It is about joining the Social Security and the Health Ministries, the Sport-Youth [Affairs] and the Culture Ministries, [and] making the Diaspora Ministry a ‘branch’ of the MFA [the Ministry of Foreign Affairs].

“There will be shifts in the power blocks too.

“It is spoken about leaving [solely] up to 8 or 10 ministries from the 18,” Hraparak wrote.
