YEREVAN. – The main candidates for the presidential election to be held in the Republic of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh Republic/NKR) in 2020 are already being outlined, according to Hraparak (Square) newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA).

“Former Artsakh Prime Minister Arayik Haroutyunyan, who is active, especially in recent times—he makes Facebook posts, has started a series of meetings in Artsakh and the RA—entered the [presidential] battle before everyone.

“The other [presidential contender] is [Artsakh] NA [National Assembly] current president Ashot Ghulyan, who also is in political consultations—[but] not public, so far.

“The third candidate is NKR Foreign Minister Masis Mayilian, who has a great diplomatic experience.

“In all likelihood, the [respective] events [in Artsakh] will enter an active phase as of mid-next year,” Hraparak wrote.
