YEREVAN. – Past newspaper of Armenia writes: According to various reports, the rise in the price of [Russian natural] gas [in Armenia] should be expected from April, although our sources suggest that the increase will actually occur from January 2020, but will not apply to consumers, as compensation will again be provided.

According to Moscow-based sources of Past newspaper, the main protégé within the Russian circles in the negotiations on the gas price being supplied to Armenia is former prime minister of Armenia Karen Karapetyan, who is doing his best not to have drastic changes in connection with the gas price.

According to the newspaper's source, it was he who mediated the Russian authorities not to raise the gas price in September 2019, which was planned in advance.

According to various rumors, the outcome of the talks will largely depend on how the Armenian authorities will behave during this period.
