YEREVAN. – Irates daily of Armenia writes: They say that no matter how much the constitutional referendum serves the fixation to get rid of [Constitutional Court (CC) president] Hrayr Tovmasyan and the current composition of the CC, to prevent the opinions and decisions expected these days from the Venice Commission and then the ECHR in mid-March on second President Robert Kocharyan, there is also a claim that the day’s ruler [PM Nikol] Pashinyan needed “muscle” to come with that referendum to the Munich meeting with [Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev.

Because analysts see firstly see the risks of security and risks concerning the Karabakh issue in the far-reaching steps of organizing such a hasty referendum, and do not rule out that the referendum itself will receive a sufficient "yes," but it will be considered unacceptable because of insufficient participation, and will serve not only to gain time but also as proof that Pashinyan, yes, has a high rating, but if the referendum on Karabakh is also put to the vote, it will not get enough votes as a key to resolving the issue; that is to say, this referendum is also for "approbation."
