YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: Covid-19 has left its negative impact in Armenia on the development of tourism.

The [current] state of the [aforesaid] sector [in Armenia] is becoming clear today also from the data of the RA Statistical Committee. The number of tourists in Armenia has significantly decreased in the first half of this year. According to the RA Statistical Committee data, 311,264 tourists arrived in our republic in January-June, whereas the number of tourists who arrived in Armenia was 770,055 in the first half of last year.

And the number of domestic tourists has made up 140,158 [this year], whereas their number was 235,456 in the same period last year. Out of the mentioned, only the goal of 24,278 was practical, whereas those who arrived in the RA for leisure and entertainment are 100,024.

Zhoghovurd daily has learned that 7,245 people came to Armenia for treatment.

By the way, these data reflect the tourists who were registered in hotels, health resorts, holiday homes [of Armenia].
