YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: The Council of the National Assembly [(NA)] will convene a sitting today to petition to the Constitutional Court [(CC)] on the matter of depriving [opposition] PAP [(Prosperous Armenia Party)] leader Gagik Tsarukyan of his parliamentary mandate.

The NA Council intends to petition to the Constitutional Court to terminate Gagik Tsarukyan's [parliamentary] powers on the basis of the Constitution’s Article 95, which prohibits an MP from engaging in business activities and holding a position in commercial organizations.

Taking into account the mood of the halls of power, it is obvious that at today's sitting the NA Council will adopt the decision to deprive Tsarukyan of his [parliamentary] mandate and will send [it] to the CC.

If the council petitions to the CC, the CC shall consider the matter of constitutionality of that decision within a maximum of 30 days and make a decision.
