YEREVAN. – Armenian Public Council’s Cultural Committee plans to discuss, on Thursday, the matter of constructing “Noah’s Ark” on the hilltop of capital Yerevan’s Victory Park, and overlooking Mt. Ararat, Haykakan Zhamanak daily writes.

“This is the idea of ARMARE Association’s President, Martun Harutyunyan. Several dozen writers and intellectuals have joined his initiative. Armenian Painters’ Union President Karen Aghamyan, who is one of the undertakers and is also a Public Council member, told our reporter yesterday [Wednesday] that the Ark will be constructed according to the real biblical scale, and presumably by wood. ‘The meaning behind constructing this historical and cultural complex is to show to the entire world that, after the Great Flood, the second rebirth of humanity had begun from the heart of the Armenian World, from Mt. Ararat,’ Karen Aghamyan said,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
