YEREVAN. – The ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MP Karo Karapetyan’s cousin and his brother-in-law are running against one another to become the prefect of Shahumyan village of the Ararat Region, Zhamanaki Mitk weekly writes.

“And instead of resolving the interpersonal and inter-relative problems, Karo Karapetyan preferred to support his brother-in-law, the incumbent village prefect Serzhik Babayan, whereas his cousin, Never Karapetyan was left out of the [National Assembly] NA MP’s attention. Incidentally, the both of them supposedly have no party affiliation, but it is clear that the incumbent village prefect is a PAP supporter, whereas the other has already pledged his allegiance to [the coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia] RPA,” Zhamanaki Mitk writes.
