YEREVAN. – Zhoghovurd newspaper of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: In a conversation with Zhoghovurd daily, Loucas Fourlas, an MP of the European Parliament and head of the RA-EU Friendship Group, did not wish to get involved in the internal political life of Armenia, but noted that he continues to stand with the Armenian people and support [them] ex officio.

Let us add that in April, on the initiative of European Parliament MPs Loucas Fourlas and Francois-Xavier Bellamy, 43 MEPs from all major political factions sent a letter to European Council President Charles Michel and European External Action Service High Representative Josep Borrell ahead of the Pashinyan-Aliyev meeting in Brussels.

They call on EU executives to use all the levers at the European Union's disposal to put pressure on Azerbaijan in order for that country to put an end to its aggressive policy in Artsakh.

Months after the petition, the viewpoint of the European parliamentarian has not changed, and he reiterated in a conversation with us that Europe should support the Armenian nation and try to settle those issues it faces.

"As the head of the RA-EU friendship group, I am fighting for the rule of law. Our struggle is shared, but I do not wish to get involved in the internal political life of Armenia, as it concerns the citizens of the country. However, I support the Armenian nation, and their struggle is righteous in connection with the (Azerbaijani troops’) invading the territory," he added.
