YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of the Republic of Armenia (RA) writes: A few days ago, information was disseminated in the press that the arrest warrant against [ex-President] Serzh Sargsyan's son-in-law, RA former ambassador to the Vatican, Mikayel Minasyan, has been lifted, and he is now free to go to this or that country.

Let us remind: Back in 2020, the State Revenue Committee has launched a criminal prosecution against him on charges of illegal enrichment. Then, Minasyan was declared wanted, and since the Russian authorities did not hand him over to the RA authorities, he remained in Russia, but could not cross the border and go to any European country.

And now, they say, the arrest warrant has been lifted. (...).

In response to our question, the Prosecutor's Office said that the arrest warrant for Minasyan has not lifted. That is, the arrest warrant in Armenia has not been lifted, but it is no longer under international arrest warrant by Interpol. It means that if he comes to Armenia, he will be arrested, but he can travel around the world. And, according to our information, he has already left for Italy and lives in his house in Rome.

We learned from other sources that it was the RA authorities themselves that terminated the international search [for him], but they "don’t have the courage" to announce [it] officially. Moreover, our source claims that the RA authorities received also a "ransom" from Mikayel Minasyan in exchange for this move.
