YEREVAN. – “If there is a small element of cynicism in your character, you might initially like what is happening in our [that is, Armenia’s] politics. But when you start thinking more seriously, you come to understand that the Mayas perhaps were right and that the end of the world is coming, at least in Armenia, because what is happening in our country today can hardly be considered a normal and a regular course,” Azg daily writes, and continues:

“In each country the presidential election assumes the end of something and the start of the other [thing]; it is considered one of the most serious events of a country. In other countries the candidates already prepare their own program, gather a team, and start serious preparations before the election campaign and being nominated.

On February 18, Armenia will elect a president for a sixth time, but the president’s pre-election campaign and the [actual] elections threaten to become the funniest and to surpass the rating of the Comedy Club.”
