YEREVAN. – The state budget subsidies, which were allocated to several communities in Armenia, will reduce in 2014, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reports.

“The communities explain this by the fact that the amount of the state budget subsidies depends on the actual number of the population.

“For example, Kapan Municipality informed our correspondent that in the case when, until now, the National Statistical Service data on the number of people have served as basis for budgetary financing, now [, however,] the indicator submitted by the Police is accepted as basis; and they are very different.

“From this, you may have a rough idea as to Armenia’s population today.

“If we spread this calculation [on Kapan city] across Armenia, it would turn out that the population of 3.2 million, which was announced two years ago, now makes up a mere 2 million,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
