Members of the Security and Political Affairs Committee of the Council of Europe will be on a working visit to Armenia on 8-9 April.

As "Armenpress" correspondent in Brussels reports, the meetings are scheduled in Yerevan and in the office of the EU observer mission.

The purpose of the visit is to get an idea of the developments in the region and the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace process.

The delegation will also visit Georgia and Azerbaijan.

The Security and Political Affairs Committee of the European Council consists of the ambassadors of the member states to the EU. The main areas of responsibility of the committee are the EU's common foreign and security policy, as well as the common security and defense policy. Among its main functions are monitoring the international situation, proposing strategic approaches to the European Council, and providing political oversight of crisis management operations.
