I suggest that if it is possible to write with a subtitle, in red color that no one in Armenia has the right to hand over anything by law; it is prohibited by law. Secondly, the authorities of Armenia are not going to even discuss such a thing under any circumstances, in any territory of Armenia. National Assembly speaker Alen Simonyan stated this on the air of the Public Television Company of Armenia—and referring to the topic of handing over four villages in Tavush Province to Azerbaijan.

"Thirdly, we have an example of this when there was talk about the so-called ‘Zangezur corridor.’ We [i.e. Armenia] clearly said that if something is imposed on us under any circumstances, we will fight for it; we will fight until the end. And today the rumors that exist are base speculations because even in this case, whenever we say, yes, there is a danger that we are saying that we have suffered a failure quite recently in terms of war, if something is forced on us, the response of Armenia’s authorities but one: we will fight, and if we lose, they will take it, ‘all the same, we will do it by fighting.’ And no one from the territory of Armenia is neither able, nor going to, nor ready to discuss anything," he said.

Also, Alen Simonyan showed a map that showed where the Armenia-Azerbaijan border line passes, according to the Alma Ata declaration of 1991, in the border regions of Tavush Province.

When asked if Armenia is handing over lands under threat, Simonyan said this is not being done under threat, but because Armenia needs it.

"When we say that Armenia should have a ‘cadastre certificate,’ it cannot be something abstract," he added.

To the question that if these territories are handed over, Azerbaijan will recognize that it is the border, the speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia said: "What else should it do? Of course. When it recognizes our border, with that, it recognizes its own border. Here the border of Azerbaijan is also connected with our recognition. We are not going to concede anything on the condition that there will be no war, which is ours, there will be no such thing. I declare on behalf of the entire Armenian authorities: it is impossible. When we are at war in our territory, the whole world is ready to defend us, when we are at war in what is perceived as another territory, the whole world is silent."
