Israel's ground attacks on the Gaza Strip city of Rafah, a day after the Palestinian group Hamas accepted a ceasefire offer, show that the country's government is not acting in good faith, Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Öncü Keçeli said on Tuesday, adding that Israel should immediately withdraw from the city.

In his microblog on X, Keçeli noted that Israel's operation began "against the backdrop of such positive developments aimed at ending the destruction and carnage in Gaza" and said the status quo in Rafah and at the border crossing should be restored without further delay.

"The Rafah offensive will not only affect the region, but the entire world. Israel must withdraw immediately from the Gaza side of the Rafah border crossing," Keçeli said.
