It is necessary to achieve a "fair and final" solution to the Cyprus problem "based on the realities on the island". Turkish President Erdogan said at a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Turkish media reported.

Turkey has kept the northern part of Cyprus under occupation since 1974. And it is these "realities" that Erdogan is referring to.

The President of the occupying country, Erdogan, at the same time that the decision on such a basis would strengthen stability and peace in the region.

He expressed confidence that mutual understanding between Turkey and Greece on the issue of fighting terrorism is growing stronger.

"We are united in the view that terrorist organizations have no place in the future of the region. At the same time, Turkey expects that the positive atmosphere in relations with Greece will contribute to respecting the rights of the Turkish minority in Greece," Erdoğan said.
