The Parliament of Georgia can override President Salome Zourabichvili’s veto on the law on "foreign agents," parliament speaker Shalva Papuashvili told reporters.

"Of course, the parliament will override that veto, as it once again shows that the law is Georgian," Papuashvili said.

The speaker of the parliament specified that a meeting of the parliamentary bureau will be held Monday, where the President's veto will be recorded and transferred to the Legal Issues Committee for discussion. And after the latter, the veto will be put to the vote of the plenary session of the Parliament of Georgia.

On May 18, President Zourabichvili vetoed the law on “foreign agents,” stating that it should be canceled because it contradicts European standards and cannot be adjusted.

Later, the media reported details about the president's respective remarks to the parliament. In them, Zourabichvili does not make any corrections regarding the points of the law and proposes to cancel it the day after its entry into force.
