Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.6 and 2.8 on the Richter scale shook the city of Ahel in Iran's Fars province on Saturday, Mehr reported.

According to the Seismological Centre of Tehran University, the first earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 on the Richter scale struck the Ahel district in Fars province at 1:56 p.m. Tehran local time on Saturday, while the second quake, which appeared to be an aftershock, shook the same area at 2:06 p.m.

The quakes occurred at a depth of 22 and 10 kilometers from the ground surface.

A local official from Ashkenan district, the epicenter of the quake, said the quake injured two people who ran out of their homes. He reported damage to more than 300 houses in the area.
