Berlin's state minister for economy, energy and enterprise, Franziska Giffey, who is a member of the Social Democratic Party (SPD), was attacked by an unidentified person, who hit her on the head with a heavy bag from behind and ran away, reports Der Spiegel.

This is the fourth attack on German politicians in recent days. The incident took place on Tuesday in a library in the Rudow district of the German capital.

Giffey, who was a city mayor between 2021-2023, went to the hospital.

An investigation is underway.

Another attack on a German politician took place on Tuesday. Yvonne Mosler, a member of the Alliance 90/The Greens party, was attacked in Dresden. She, accompanied by her assistants, was posting election campaign posters when she was attacked by two unidentified persons.

One of them pushed the woman aside, shouted insults, and tore the posters.

Later, the police apprehended a 24-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man at the scene of the incident.

Matthias Ecke, another member of the SPD and a candidate for the European Parliament, was attacked last week in Dresden. The politician was attacked when he also was posting election campaign posters. The police identified the four attackers.

In addition, unidentified persons attacked Katrin Dagmar Goring-Eckardt and Rolf Fliess after a Greens party event in Essen.
