YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan and Russian Federation (RF) Minister of Defense, Army General Sergey Shoygu discussed military and militaro-technical cooperation. Ohanyan stated this during his joint news conference with Shoygu, which was held Tuesday in Armenian capital city Yerevan.

“Shoygu’s official visit [to Armenia] is planned. It is especially pleasing for us that it is taking place during the days of the 21st anniversary celebrations of the Armenian army. This is very symbolic and fully consistent with the spirit of the Armenian-Russian allied relations,” Ohanyan said.

In his words, they discussed regional and international projects as well as the stationing of the Russian military base in Armenia

Also, Armenia’s defense minister noted that his RF colleague’s current visit will become an impetus to develop the Armenian-Russian allied relations in the defense sector, and contribute to strengthening friendship and regional stability and security.
