YEREVAN. - Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan today received the delegation of Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between Armenia and Russia, headed by Russia’s Minister of Transport Maxim Sokolov.

Sargsyan welcomed the Russian delegation which has arrived in Armenia to attend in the 16th session of the Commission, stressing that the committee plays significant role in the development of the economic cooperation of both countries.

Nearly thirty international, intergovernmental and interagency documents have come into force over the half year since the last commission session, supplementing the Armenian-Russian agreement and legal basis. 10 more documents are still being drawn up.

Sargsyan pointed with satisfaction to the solution of the most important questions for Armenia, including the pricing of gas imported to Armenia. Since January 1, Armenia has been paying 165 per 1 thousand cu m instead of the former $189.

This prevented from raising the price of gas and keep its tariff stable, despite the fluctuations of the Armenian dram in relation to US dollar.

Today’s session also resulted in the agreement on providing $200 million concessional loan to Armenia. The agreement will enable to significantly expand the arsenal of the Armed Forces of Armenia.
