YEREVAN. - Maintaining “Armenfilm” film studio is merely unrealistic today, regardless of how much we want this. Armenia’s Minster of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan told the aforementioned to Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

“Maintaining “Armenfilm” is a very complicated issue. [Even] a country like Russia can’t afford modernizing its film studios. There must be some business proposal which will decide the further fate of the studio. As to the process of film digitization, we will continue that. But the further work should also be considered in terms of a program on the development of the film studio,” Poghosyan said.

According to her, joint work with the private sector is needed. The search for investors has proved useless so far. A corresponding announcement may appear in near future. “We are now talking about a base of film production, which is an expensive issue. We will soon sum up the program and understand what we want, after which we will enter into talks with people who will wish to be involved,” the Minister said.

Back in summer 2015, Armenian Government renationalized “Armenfilm” after Hamo Beknazaryan since the owners – Gerard Cafesjian and Bagrat Sargsyan – didn’t make promised investments during 10 years.
