An Armenian soldier died on the border of Armenia and Azerbaijan on Friday. Contract soldier, Private Gevorg Asoyan sustained mortal gunshot wound to his head at the N military base of the Armenian Ministry of Defense unit on Friday at about 9:00 am.
The Sixth garrison unit of Armenia's General Military Investigative Department has launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances of the death of the soldier. Other immediate investigative and judicial actions are carried out as well.
According to the information of Armenian News - NEWS.am, the incident took place in Ijevan region of Tavush province.
This is already the second death of an Armenian soldier today. As reported earlier, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Defense Army servicemen Vladimir Melkonyan, 20, sustained a fatal gunshot wound on Friday at around 12:20pm. He was mortally wounded at the protection area of an NKR Defense Army military unit, and as a result of the shot fired by the Azerbaijani army.
