Armenian soldier Sevak Sahin Balrkci, killed in Turkey on April 24 was beaten by the commander of the military unit last month.

Journalist of Turkish Aydinlik newspaper Mehmet Faraci said that a woman named Hripsime Hakobyan called him and informed that her brother in-law was killed. Later the woman handed the phone to Melanie Kuruyan.

“The young girl was crying and saying that her fiancé was murdered. She did not know under what circumstances Sevak was killed, but told several things. She said that a soldier lost 50 liras in the military unit last month, and the commander beat Sevak and another serviceman. Sevak wrote a complaint against the commander of a military unit, but took it back because of threats. The girl said they threatened to burn Sevak,” Farac said.

As reported earlier, 25-year-old Sevak graduated from Faculty of Fine Arts, Istanbul Technical University. He served in the military unit of the gendarmerie in Kozluk district of Batman province. He would have discharged from the army in 23 days. According to local mass media, he was killed from gunshot wounds, while playing with a gun with his friend on April 24. However, Sevak’s parents do not believe in it and demand a thorough investigation of his death.

Sevak’s funeral was held in Istanbul on April 27. Commander of Gendarmerie and mayor of Istanbul sent wreaths. Turkish State Minister Egemen Bagis, Sisli Mayor Mustafa Sarygul, Hrant Dink’s widow Rakel Dink also attended his funeral.
