The rally called by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, leader of the Tavush for the Motherland movement and Primate of the Diocese of Tavush of the Armenian Apostolic Church, is getting underway at Republic Square, the heart of Armenia’s capital, Yerevan.

This morning, the numerous people, under the leadership of Archbishop Galstanyan, started marching to various universities from Republic Square. Students from universities were joining Galstanyan in groups. He stopped for a short time at universities, and called on students to join their movement and not allow the loss of the homeland.

Archbishop Galstanyan on Thursday announced the start of civil disobedience actions and called for boycotting classes and labor strikes.

Separately, the two opposition factions of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia are starting the process of impeachment of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in the NA.

On May 4, the Tavush for the Motherland movement had started a march, led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, from Kirants border village of Tavush Province to Yerevan, and this march reached the Armenian capital Thursday. Those who have joined this movement are against the incumbent Armenian authorities’ policy of unilateral concessions to Azerbaijan.
