Alexey Overchuk has been supported by members of the Committee for CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots as a candidate for the post of Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

According to the press service of the State Duma, the meeting of deputies with the candidate lasted more than two hours.

Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky noted that Overchuk deals with a number of significant issues, including Eurasian integration and promotion of the Russian language abroad, oversees "the most important for us block related to the development of Eurasian integration, the possible accession of new countries to the Eurasian Economic Union, the development of significant projects in the Eurasian space."

"New schools are being opened in Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, in many other post-Soviet countries, and Russian teachers are being trained," he added.

It should be noted that Overchuk is co-chair of the trilateral working group on unblocking communications in the South Caucasus region.

The other co-chairs of the group are Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan and Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev.
