The Minister of Internal Affairs, Vakhtang Gomelauri, said that he will not allow protesters fighting against the bill on foreign agents to stage a coup in Georgia.

"Let them not even dream [about it]. Let them work in their offices if they want, and leave the parliament and other state institutions alone," Gomelauri told reporters, answering the respective question.

Since April 15, the opposition and civil activists have been holding rallies in Georgia's capital Tbilisi against the adoption of the bill on foreign agents. These protests turned several times into clashes with the law enforcement, and the police special forces used pepper spray and water cannons to disperse the protesters gathered near the Parliament of Georgia. According to reporters, during one of these rallies, when its participants tried to take out the foundations of the parliament gates, the police special forces fired rubber bullets at them. But the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia dismissed this information.
