The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtlau, met with Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister, Jeyhun Bayramov, on Friday in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of Kazakh-Azerbaijani strategic partnership and further strengthening of the alliance, as well as exchanged views on the situation in the region.

The interlocutors exchanged views also on increasing trade and transit and transport potential.

“Speaking about the created situation, Minister Bayramov thanked the Kazakh side for the assistance and activeness aimed at promoting the bilateral peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Confidence was expressed that today's negotiations will contribute to this process," the statement reads.

But in the statement—to note, the statements of the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Armenia are identical—about Nurtlau’s meeting with Armenia Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, however, the last sentence is missing.

"The interlocutors noted with satisfaction the dynamics of the development of the high-level political dialogue between Armenia and Kazakhstan. Topics on bilateral agenda were discussed following the discussions held during the visit of the President of Kazakhstan to Yerevan in April.

The symbolic nature of holding the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan on the Kazakh platform, particularly in the city of Almaty, was emphasized taking into account the significance of the 1991 Alma-Ata Declaration in the process of normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, including the border delimitation.

Reference was made to the development of regional economic and transport interconnections.”
