YEREVAN. – Armenian Heritage Party is thinking about responding to ruling party MP David Harutyunyan’s proposal on creating proper laws for ensuring proper conduct of electoral competition, deputy-chairman of Heritage Party Ruben Hakobyan told the reporter of Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“We welcome all initiatives for conducting fair and just elections in our country. We might come up with a respond but we also fear that the proposal might suffer from any intervention, it could harm instead of providing for fair and just elections,” he said adding that he hopes that proposal has been made in order to provide for fair elections.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia Party, ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Heritage Party signed a joint agreement on creating a single headquarter for monitoring the elections.

The deputy chairman of RPA Galust Sahakyan who was participating in the discussion refused to sign the agreement.

The agreement is open to all the political forces participating in the elections.

Eight political parties and one block have presented their nominations – Republican Party of Armenian, Prosperous Armenia Party, Orinats Yerkir, opposition Armenian National Congress, opposition Heritage Party, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, the Communist Party of Armenia, Democratic Party of Armenia and United Armenians Party.

For entering the National Assembly, parties must poll over 5% of votes, while blocks - over 7%.

The election campaign will be held till May 5 - the day prior to elections when campaigning is banned. The parliamentary elections will be held from 8 am to 8 pm on May 6, 2012.
