Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan on Saturday headed to Gyumri city and paid a visit to the city’s new medical center which is under construction.  

The new hospital complex, which occupies a 10,500-m2 area, also will house the Shirak Regional Hospital, the Surgery Hospital, and the therapeutic, cardiology, and hemodialysis services of Samariter Hospital.  

The new building has a high-level seismic resistance, and it meets the international standards for hospital construction. Also, a professional consulting center will function in the new hospital complex.

The newly built hospital is prepared to render services also for the residents of the neighboring regions and of Georgia’s Armenian-populated region of Samtskhe-Javakheti (Javakhk), Health Ministry official Gurgen Dumanyan told during a briefing with news reporters.     

Around AMD 5.1 billion (approx. US$ 13,085,000) were invested toward the construction of the hospital complex. 

The medical center’s construction is planned to end on May 24.
