YEREVAN. – During Wednesday’s session of the four Armenian political forces, which had signed an agreement on establishing a joint intra-party headquarters for public oversight of the forthcoming National Assembly (NA) elections, the opposition Heritage Party submitted two proposal-ultimatums which, if not carried out, Heritage warned it will leave this initiative, Armenian News-NEWS.am’s reporter informs.  

The Party’s Vice Chairman Ruben Hakobyan demanded that leaders of the parties, which have taken part in this initiative, sign under the statement on the formation of this headquarters. In addition, Hakobyan proposed to form a commission, or a working group, which will follow the charitable foundations which are distributing pre-election bribes.      

Also, as per Ruben Hakobyan, the Heritage Party cannot comprehend the ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party’s participation in this initiative, because this runs counter to the coalition’s memorandum.

“The Prosperous Armenia must decide on which side it is; otherwise, this is a meaningless loss of time,” Hakobyan said.     

In his words, Heritage will sign this document solely in the case when the signatures of the first personalities—or leaders—of the parties, which have taken part in this initiative, are under this document on the formation of this headquarters.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the opposition bloc Armenian National Congress, the ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party, and the opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Heritage parties on April 4 signed an agreement on establishing a joint headquarters to oversee the forthcoming National Assembly elections. But the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia representative Galust Sahakyan did not sign under the agreement    

Also, Davit Harutyunyan offered, on April 5, a proposal to design rules for holding the NA elections in a civilized manner.
