YEREVAN. – It is natural that the ruling coalition’s Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) refused to sign under the statement on establishing a joint headquarters to oversee the forthcoming National Assembly elections, opposition bloc Armenian National Congress (ANC) Office Coordinator Levon Zurabyan said during Wednesday’s meeting.  

“It is not a coincidence that the RPA is not in the game, since it bears the responsibility for [election] fraud. It is clear for all that the RPA cannot maintain power without [election] fraud,” Zurabyan stated.  

Also, he noted that the halls of power will truly resort to election fraud, and stressed that despite President Serzh Sargsyan’s promises, the ruling power is not preparing to conduct free elections.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, the ANC, the ruling coalition’s Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), and the opposition ARF Dashnaktsutyun and Heritage parties on April 4 signed an agreement on establishing a joint headquarters to oversee the forthcoming National Assembly elections. But the RPA representative Galust Sahakyan did not sign under the agreement. Furthermore, some conflicts emerged between the PAP and Heritage.
