ABOVYAN. – Armenian opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) leader Levon Ter-Petrsoyan announced during the pre-election meeting in Abovyan City that ANC will participate in every honest initiative which is directed towards ensuring fair elections.

He mentioned some rules of ANC.

“We will participate in every honest initiative directed towards ensuring fair and transparent elections. By saying honest I mean ARF Dashnaktsutyun, Heritage Party, Prosperous Armenia Party and the pre-election headquarter organized by ANC.

The main target of criticism is to be the President Sargyan’s regime that is Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) and its appendix Orinats Yerkir Party (Rule of Law).

We are not to conduct any campaign agaisnt ARFD, PAP and Heritage.

Whether our colleagues will respect or break these laws, ANC is determined to stay true to them,” Levon Ter-Petrosyan said.

Armenian National Congress (ANC) is an opposition bloc founded in 2008 after presidential elections. During the August 1, 2008, rally in Yerevan the first President of Armenia and ANC leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan announced formation of the bloc. ANC comprises 18 parties and political forces.

ANC proportional list includes 119 names. It has also nominated MP candidates with the majority election system.

Eight political parties and one block have presented their nominations – Republican Party of Armenian, Prosperous Armenia Party, Orinats Yerkir, opposition Armenian National Congress, opposition Heritage Party, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, the Communist Party of Armenia, Democratic Party of Armenia and United Armenians Party.

For entering the National Assembly, parties must poll over 5% of votes, while blocks - over 7%.

The election campaign will be held till May 5 - the day prior to elections when campaigning is banned. The parliamentary elections will be held from 8 am to 8 pm on May 6, 2012.
