YEREVAN. – Belarus will not accept the policy of dictatorship and sanctions in relations with the EU, Belarusian FM Sergei Martynov said at a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart Edward Nalbandian on Monday.

In response to the question on the fate of political prisoners in Belarus, the FM said that Belarusian legislature does not have such a notion and those people are in prison for certain violations.

 “Belarus does not accept a policy of dictatorship and sanctions, as it does not consider it correct,” Martynov said adding official Minsk hopes for the gradual reduction in escalation of relations with the EU and believes those efforts are mutual.

Earlier European Parliament adopted a resolution demanding that all the eleven political prisoners in Belarus should be released and since then, dialogue between Minsk and Brussels has not moved forward.
